ABS INSPECTION – VEHICLES WITH PRE-INSTALLED SYSTEM

The certificate is issued by the vehicle inspection center, after a partial voluntary inspection of the braking system. To have this inspection conducted one has to submit a declaration of honor, law 1599/1986, signed by an authorized technician of ABS (anti-lock braking system), which will certify among other things that the vehicle bears an anti-lock braking system since fitted by the manufacturer.

Documents for the partial voluntary inspection

Before the partial voluntary inspection starts, the vehicle owner or its representative should:

Submit:

• An application for the partial voluntary inspection.

• A declaration of honor, law 1599/1986 signed by an authorized installation technician.

Presents:

• The registration of the vehiclefor those in service or the vehicle registration certificate of the customs for the second hand vehicles imported into our country before 2009.

• The valid roadworthiness test card without serious or dangerous deficiencies being reported on it.

• Evidence that the specific fee for the partial voluntary inspection has been imposed.

Partial voluntary inspection of the braking system

• An inspection (technical check)of the braking system of the vehicle is carried out

• A verification audit is carried out to prove that:

  • The vehicle to be inspected is the one appearing in its registration (for a vehicle inservice) or in the vehicle registration certificate (for a renumbered vehicle), in the foreign registration or in a printed form of the catalogue of the vehicle construction plant and in the declaration of honor on the part of the authorized installation technician.

  • The ABS described in the declaration of honor on the part of the authorized installation technician, appears in the vehicle, that its building elements, the ones accessible at inspection, are identified in the vehicle and that the warning light function showing well- functioning of the system. In the cases of combinations of vehicles the function of the warning light of the towed vehicle on the towing vehicle is also tested. It is a visual check.

  • The electrical wiring interconnection with a towing or towed vehicle as described in the declarations of honor is installed as described.

If no serious or dangerous deficiencies are found during the inspection of the braking system of the vehicle and if during the verification audit appearing in the above paragraph, there are not any remarks stated, a certificate is issued in three copies, one for the vehicle owner, one for the competent Transport and Communications Service of the Prefecture which in its turn will issue the new vehicle registration and one for the files of the Motor Vehicle Inspection Center.

The owner of a vehicle with pre-installed ABS, submits the necessary documents of this subparagraph where appropriate to thecompetent transport and communications service of the prefecture. The service in its turn issues a new registration (for a vehicle in service) or a first registration (for a renumbered vehicle).

In these registrations, is added the remark: «ABS APPROVED SYSTEMS» (the bold type is used by the service).
