VEHICLE IMMOBILITY 18 Nov 2020

We stay safe at home due to coronavirus!!

We choose to commute in alternative ways!!

Whatever happens, it means that our car may remain standstill for days. Immobility, however, is a special situation for our vehicle in any case, which implies traps and which can cause unpleasant surprises. To avoid such bad surprises there are some things we can do ...

  • VEHICLE PARKING

The solution of a closed parking lot is suitable for any period of immobility. If this is not possible, it is advisable to use a protective hood, which must allow air circulation to evaporate the moisture.

If there is no hood it is advisable to avoid parking under or near tree foliage or aside to water.

  • BATTERY

The battery is one of the main components of the car, which if discharged, does not allow the engine to operate.

One way to avoid battery discharge is to remove the battery terminals, and even when stationary the car systems are running and consuming energy.

A second way is to start the engine at regular intervals so as to charge and maintain its voltage at the proper and desired level.

  • TIRES

We check the pressure and the condition of our tires.

  • VENTILATION

If possible, we leave slightly both of the front windows or the air conditioning switches open, or as little as possible, so as to provide ventilation and the moisture to evaporate.

  • LEAKS

Before returning the vehicle back to circulation, we should always check the oil and antifreeze level for suspicious leaks.

  • WINDSCREEN WIPERS

We remove the wipers without resting their arms on the windscreen. Alternatively, we anoint the wiper blades with talcum powder or special cream so that they do not stick to the windshield.
